Over 36,000 individuals have fled Sudan's Kordofan area east of Darfur starting Saturday, according to the UN's migration agency.

The important central zone between the country's Darfur areas and the Khartoum-Riverine area has over recent weeks become the newest conflict zone in the 24-month civil conflict between the Sudanese military forces and the militia group.

Significant Evacuation Statistics

An calculated 36,825 people evacuated from five localities in North Kordofan region between 26 October and 31 October, as reported by the International Organization for Migration.

The people, primarily walking, headed to Tawila, a town west of El Fasher that is currently sheltering over 652,000 displaced people.

Heightened Military Presence

Residents of North Kordofan on Monday described a substantial rise in both RSF and army concentration across urban and rural areas throughout the state.

Both forces are competing for control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan regional capital and a key logistics and command center that joins Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have assembled at the Bara front here," commented an RSF member in a recently shared video message.

Local Citizens Detail Safety Fears

A area citizen of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, reported that the amount of RSF vehicles had grown considerably since the group's seizure of El Fasher.

"We discontinued traveling to our farms, fearing fighting," the resident commented.

Another inhabitant, who sought confidentiality for protection purposes, also reported that "there has been a big increase in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the last fourteen days.

International Warnings and Calls

A senior UN official raised the alarm last week about "widespread abuses" and "race-driven revenge attacks" by RSF in Bara.

The official warned of patterns similar to those in Darfur, where RSF combatants have been charged with mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against certain racial groups.

The religious leader on Sunday urged an immediate ceasefire and the creation of relief routes in Sudan, saying that attacks on civilians and hindrances to humanitarian aid "are causing unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's diplomatic representative to Egypt on Sunday charged RSF of perpetrating war crimes in El Fasher and stated that the Sudanese government would not negotiate with the militia organization.

The diplomat further called on the global community to categorize the group as a terrorist organisation.
